Hi again Gloria. Just in case you read this, I have posted that due to illness I am not at this time able to do the in person classes. I'm not sure when I'll be able to. So I've decided to go ahead with producing the DVD classes. I have one free class that is structured around beginner tools and tips. It's on the fiber art section of my website. I now have two video class DVD's done and they are posted to purchase on the fiber arts of the website as well as a third beginner video class that is done, edited and burning now. It'll be available online in the next day or two. I'm going to tape as many projects as my energy will allow and get them up on the site. At least with a DVD you can watch and learn at your leisure.

Hi everyone, due to illness I have not been able to get the in person classes going. I am not sure when I'll be able to do them. but in the mean time. I decided that I can do the tapping of the videos. So I have the beginners intro to tools and tips done and up on the website. It's a free one, and I've also just completed the Cascading Hearts and the St. Patty's Pot of Gold videos. They are edited and burned to dvd. I will soon have them available for a lesser price for download off the website as well. For those who want them right away and don't need to have an actual DVD.
More news to come. Working now on a Beginners class on video Duck Egg Character. He's so cute lol Just have to tape that class in the next few days. Then I'll move on to some intermediate class videos and they will take a little longer to complete. Stay tuned!

Just an update on the video saga. I'm not a video editor hehe. But I'm happy to say after doing all the takes and getting it acceptable, then finding a video converter to change it to a flash movie so I can play it online, then searching and researching on players to install to my website, trial and error and error and error ROfL I finally have the video online. It's only on a test page at the moment just to be sure it works. When I played it back I realized that there was an issue in the background music when I was editing it that I hadn't noticed. At one point in the video, near the beginning and only for just over one min. The music gets loud lol So this will have to be fixed and uploaded again. Long days and much learning to get me to this point. It does play online and that was the goal. Now to fix that little oops and then I can show you all where it's located on the server.

Hi Ann!
First off, any time you spend teaching in a class, you deserve to get paid. It takes a lot of energy to prepare, and to teach. That's why teachers in the school system get paid well! lol
I think that what ever you feel your time is worth is what you charge. I plan on charging according to the project I'm teaching. Mostly beginners classes but eventually a full course of beginner, intermediate, and advanced. If I'm doing this I'd say a 2 hour class should be a MIN. of 30. plus the cost of supplies per person because that covers your time of prep for the project and the time you spend teaching in the class, plus the cost to you of gas etc. I feel a two hour class in most cases should be at least 45. per person plus the cost of supplies.
It's nice that you offer this to the seniors but even a discounted or lower price to them would be nice. I used to do things for free all the time. Probably why I'm a starving artist. But now I need the money so I won't do it for free. You had to pay to learn, I had to pay to learn, they have to pay to learn. It's just the way it is.
Just because you don't have a shop to sell the supplies to them for class and later, doesn't mean the lessons are worth any less.
Now as far as people not showing up? I'm sorry but I set a schedule that they will sign on for. They are paying for those classes to be held on those days at those times. Not your responsibility to MAKE up for classes they missed. If I offered make up classes I'd charge double. Not to be harsh but to make a point, that it cost to have great instruction.
Hope you stop letting others take advantage of your kindness Ann, you are worth so much more. I've seen your work and you have a lot to offer others. Both in teaching and in commissions.
Best of Luck to you.
